The old concept of "acedia" describes the vice of sloth, the lack of enthusiasm, restlessness, weariness, the straying from the focus on God. Viewed through secular lens, acedia makes one think about how relevant the concept is in contemporary times.

Is compulsive activity not on the same level as indolence? Does there exist a plan of distraction?
